Warehouse clearance

Warehouse clearance: emptying a warehouse or unit

A warehouse clearance empties a warehouse, storage unit, workshop or industrial hall: racking and shelving, pallets, old stock, packaging, workbenches and whatever has built up over the years. We separate metal, wood, cardboard and plastic for recycling and leave a swept floor. You get a quote based on photos or a floor plan.

When do you need a warehouse clearance?

A warehouse clearance is needed when a business space has to be empty by a fixed date: the end of a warehouse lease, a move to another site, the closure of an activity, or a new owner who wants the hall empty.

It can be needed without a move as well: a warehouse that has filled up over the years with outdated stock, broken pallets and leftover material, where space is needed again for the business itself.

What we remove from a warehouse

In a warehouse clearance we remove everything that is loose and not fixed to the building.

  • pallet racking, shelving and racks, after dismantling
  • wooden and plastic pallets, including damaged ones
  • old or unsaleable stock and returns
  • cardboard, film, strapping and other packaging
  • workbenches, cabinets, lockers and the office furniture on the mezzanine
  • small machines and equipment, by arrangement

What falls outside the job

Hazardous substances, such as chemicals, oils, large quantities of paint, gas bottles or asbestos, need a specialist processor. Heavy machines that are anchored or need a crane belong to a machinery dealer or an industrial dismantling firm. Mention such items with the photos.

How does a warehouse clearance work?

It starts with a good picture of the volume. Send photos of the whole hall, close-ups of the racking, the mezzanine and the outdoor area, or a floor plan with dimensions. Tell us how the truck can load: at a loading dock, through a sectional door or at street level, and whether there is a forklift on site.

On the day, the racking is emptied first and then dismantled. Metal, wood, cardboard and plastic leave in separate streams so they can be recycled instead of processed as mixed waste. Large jobs are spread over several days or several crews. At the end we sweep the floor.

Dismantling and recycling racking

Pallet racking and shelving are the largest volume in many warehouses. They are dismantled into uprights, beams and decks. Metal parts go to metal recycling, wooden decks to the wood stream.

If the racking is still in good condition and you want to sell it, do so before the clearance, for example through a dealer in second-hand warehouse equipment. We take what is left.

What does a warehouse clearance cost?

A warehouse clearance is always priced on quote. The price depends on the surface and the volume, the amount of racking to dismantle, the type of material, the loading options and the deadline. A lot of clean metal and wood lowers the processing cost; a lot of mixed stock or packaging raises it.

Send photos or a floor plan, with the town and the handover date. Office space in the same building can be included in the same job as an office clearance.

Warehouse clearance around Antwerp, Brussels and Ghent

Many warehouses are in the port areas and business parks: around the port of Antwerp and the Left Bank, along the A12 towards Brussels, around Vilvoorde and Machelen north of Brussels, and along the canal zone in Ghent. Loading there is usually easier than in a city, because there is a private yard or a loading dock.

For the local rules see house clearance in Antwerp and Ghent, or the areas overview.

Frequently asked questions

Do you dismantle pallet racking?

Yes, we dismantle and remove free-standing and bolted pallet racking and shelving. Racking anchored in the floor is released where that can be done without damaging the floor; mention it with the photos.

Can you dispose of old stock?

Yes, unsaleable stock, returns and packaging are taken away and sorted where possible. Hazardous products are excluded and go to a specialist processor.

How long does a warehouse take?

That depends entirely on the size and the contents. From the photos or the floor plan we tell you how many days and crews are needed, so you can plan towards the handover date.

Do we get an invoice in the company name?

Yes, with your VAT number on it.
